The media response to the world’s introduction to Caitlyn Jenner via thatVanity Fair cover was mostly one of congratulatory support — a sincere unity rarely observed in this consistently cutthroat industry. However, we can always (sadly) rely on Fox News to give voice to the profoundly misguided cultural stragglers and — apparently — we can occasionally rely on Drake Bell to do the same.
As previously reported here and on yourTwitter timeline (assuming you follow a fair share of former Nickelodeon stars), Bell’s response to Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair feature was wholly unsettling. Following a swift and united backlash, Bell quickly deleted the series of tweets. However, karma is always but a screenshot away:
A quick perusal of Bell’s Twitter andInstagram posts shows that the backlash is far from subsiding, a reality likely inspiring or at least hurrying the arrival of Bell’s subsequent apology tweets. Bell claims his comments were “made in innocence,” which might be true but mostly just sounds like a publicist throwing anything but full-blown gasoline on a press fire:
