Friday Transfer News And Gossip: Zlatan Ibrahimavic Rules Out PSG Exit
Manchester City made the first move in the Raheem Sterling saga on
Thursday night after launching a £25million bid with another £5m in
add-ons for the Liverpool forward.
However, the Reds rejected the offer from their Premier League rivals
and are understood to be holding out for £50m for the England star.
Elsewhere, Chelsea face competition from Liverpool for Radamel
Falcao, while Manchester United have been linked with a move for
Brazilian attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino.

Premier League new-boys Bournemouth are reportedly keen on Hull midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
The 28-year-old featured 35 times for Steve Bruce’s side last season as they were relegated to the Championship.
However, the Cherries could hand Huddlestone a chance to remain in the top-flight as the Tigers look to cut costs at the KC.
PSG are ready to make a move for Barcelona forward Pedro, according to L’Equipe.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 33, approaching the final year of his
contract in Paris, the Ligue 1 champions are keen to bolster their
attacking options.
And reports overseas suggests Spaniard Pedro is on their radar, despite recently signing a new contract at the Nou Camp.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played down speculation linking him with a move to AC Milan.
The Sweden star is approaching the final year of his deal at PSG but insists he has no plans to quit the club.
He said: “I belong to PSG. I have one year left on my contract with them.
“The Milan rumours? That’s just the media talking. There’s nothing behind it.
“You never know what will happen in the transfer window, but I’m not going to leave.
“I like it at PSG and we’ve just had a fantastic season. The project is still developing.”
Kwadwo Asamoah could be heading for the Premier League this summer after falling out of favour at Juventus.
The versatile Ghanaian, who can play in midfield or at left-back, is reportedly a target for Arsenal.
Sportitalia suggests Asamoah is surplus to requirements at the Serie A champions after slipping down the pecking order.
Manchester United have been dealt a blow after Andre Gomes committed his future to Valencia.
The Red Devils had been linked with a summer swoop for the midfielder.
However, their hopes have been dashed after the Benfica man made his
loan move to the Spanish side permanent, penning a deal until 2020.
Roberto Mancini has not given up on luring Yaya Toure to Inter Milan –
despite the Ivorian insisting he will stay at Manchester City.
The former Blues boss has waged an incessant campaign of flirtation
with Toure – and is desperate to add him to his Serie A squad for next
season.
Mancini told La Stampa: “He was the one who told me he wanted to look for new destinations.
“I spent six months explaining to him what he would find at Inter, then he spoke with his club and he fell off of our radar.”
Arsenal have been charged with allegedly breaching football agents
regulations over the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton, the
Football Association has announced.
A statement on the FA website said: “The charge is in relation to the
transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton to Arsenal on 26 July 2014.
“Authorised agent Alan Middleton has also been charged for allegedly
breaching The FA’s Football Agents Regulations in relation to the same
transfer.
“Mr Middleton has until 17 June 2015 to respond to the charge.
“Arsenal have until 26 June 2015 after they requested more time to respond to the charge.”
Barcelona are set to trigger the break-clause in Denis Suarez’s two-year loan contract at Sevilla.
The former Manchester City youngster played over 30 times for the
Europa League winners last campaign and is expected to return to the Nou
Camp, where he is deemed ready for the first team.
Marca report that Suarez, 21, could take the squad registration place
voided by the departing Xavi, as the Catalan giants are unable to
register new signings due to their transfer ban.
Barcelona are banned from registering new signings until January 1
2016, after breaking FIFA rules regarding the signings of players under
the age of 18.
Another Barnet teenager is attracting attention from Premier League clubs.
Swansea have had a £250,000 bid rejected for prolific 17 year-old striker Matt Stevens.
And now the race for central midfielder Wesley Fonguck is also hotting up.
Manchester United are currently in pole position to land the 17
year-old who has also caught the eye of England’s under-20s coaches when
they trained at Barnet.
United have made an enquiry for Fonguck but Aston Villa and
Southampton are also among the top-flight clubs keen on the teenager.
Macclesfield have joined the race for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling.
Manchester City are ready to make an improved £40million bid for the England star after having a £30m offer rejected.
However, the Silkmen may struggle to meet Liverpool’s £50m asking price.
Benfica have completed the signing of Adel Taarabt.
The mercurial Moroccan has signed a five-year deal with the Portuguese giants.
Manchester City are determined to win the race for Raheem Sterling and will make a second £40million offer in the next 48 hours.
City are not surprised Liverpool rejected their opening offer of £30million last night, claiming they want over £50million.
The Blues were testing the waters and will return with an improved
bid for the wantaway England star, which will be worth nearly £40million
with add-ons.
They want Sterling done as quickly as possible and are keen to strike before their rivals can muster a competitive bid.
In a statement of intent, they are prepared to give Sterling a whopping contract worth over £180,000-a-week.
Although Sterling’s preferred choice would be a return to his native
London and Arsenal, he would be happy to move to the Etihad.
QPR are keen on highly-rated Montpellier young gun Joris Ahlinvi.
The relegated Hoops are negotiating a £500,000 deal for 19-year-old striker as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
QPR have already signed Swindon Town duo Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin.
Sunderland are set to make a move for Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates when he returns from Copa America duty.
The Liverpool centre-back spent last season on loan with the Black
Cats and, barely figuring under Gus Poyet, he became a key player under
Poyet’s successor Dick Advocaat in the final six games of the campaign
as the club steered clear of relegation.
Head coach Advocaat has told sporting director Lee Congerton he wants
to bring the 24-year-old back to Wearside next season, and Sunderland
will test Liverpool’s resolve over a player who has made just six
Premier League starts in four years on Merseyside and who is out of
contract next summer.
Newcastle have made an approach for Malaga forward Juanmi, according to the Daily Mail.
The Magpies are believed to be in talks for the Spaniard, who has a release clause of £5.5million in his deal.
Steve McClaren is also keen on QPR’s Charlie Austin and West Brom star Saido Berahino.
Cardiff City are set to see their resolve to hold onto Joe Mason
severely tested, with Championship rivals Wolves reportedly about to
make a second bid for the striker.
The Bluebirds rejected a £1.5m bid for the 24-year-old this week and
now sources in the Midlands suggest Wanderers’ manager Kenny Jackett is
going to return with a higher offer.
The reports also claim Wolves’ first offer was lower than the £1.5m
suggested, but the Midlands club are now set to go higher than they did
originally to get their man.
Manchester City have tabled a £58million bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports in Italy.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, City have made the first move
in a bidding war that is also set to involve Barcelona, Real Madrid and
Paris St Germain.
City, who are ready to embark on a £150m spending spree this summer
after ending last season empty-handed, want to conduct their transfer
business swiftly before pre-season.
The Blues have already had a £25m bid – plus £5m in add-ons –
rejected by Liverpool for England midfielder Raheem Sterling, and are
set to come back with an improved offer.
Charlie Austin will become Newcastle’s first summer signing in the
next week – and England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino is also on their
radar.
The Magpies have a £40million-plus transfer kitty and want to revamp
every department of the team but goals and striking talent are the top
priority.
New boss Steve McClaren has demanded rapid progress to give disgruntled fans some hope and belief ahead of next season.
That means £15m-rated Austin is to be poached from relegated Queens
Park Rangers after scoring 18 goals last season, his first in the top
flight, in a struggling side – although there will be haggling over the
fee with the Geordies only wanting to spend £10m.
England U21 international Berahino’s future at West Brom is on hold
until their ownership situation is resolved, but last season’s 20-goal
striker would cost £20m. Stars in stripes? Rebuilding Newcastle are eyeing Berahino (left) and Austin
AC Milan sensation Stephan El Shaarawy could be set for a move to the Emirates this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The Italian international’s brother Manuel, who also acts as his
agent, confirmed that teams were interested in him and he will not rule
out a move.
“A move for El Shaarway? There have been several teams interested, Stephan is a player who lots of teams like.
“There were several offers, both in January and now in the summer, offers which we looked at.
“We can’t rule anything out, the transfer market is always the transfer market.”
