Barcelona Completed An Historic Treble And Won A Fifth Champions League
They locked down his goal-scoring – butJuventus couldn’t snuff out Lionel Messi’s magic as Barcelona were crowned champions of Europe in Berlin.
On a dramatic night in Germany, magician Messi was the only one of Barcelona’s Holy Trinity not to score.
But he effectively destroyed the Juventus dream with a hand in two pieces of Barcelona brilliance which helped earn the Spaniards their third Champions League title in six years.
In the end it was Croatian foot-soldier Ivan Rakatic, Luis Suarez and – right at the end – Neymar who grabbed the glory with the goals which carried Luis Enrique’s stars to a momentus triumph.
After already winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey victory ensured the treble for Barcelona – only the eighth team to achieve the feat.
And for Enrique it laid to rest the ghost of Pep Guardiola who had haunted the new coach in his debut season in the job.
